Entire AP Archive Now Viewable on YouTube

Associated Press

have committed their entire archive of footage on YouTube:

AP Archive is the film and video archive of The Associated Press — the world’s largest and oldest news agency. The entire AP Archive collection is now viewable on YouTube. New material is added every day.

Feel free to explore, share and embed stories from the most respected news agency in the world… Our sister channel – British Movietone – contains footage from 1895 – 1986, please visit that too!

Here’s the link to the channel. Of course, just because it’s on Youtube doesn’t mean it’s free:

Before you can order Master footage, you will need to have a license for its usage. You can request a licence for your project from within your workspace. You will be asked a few questions about your intended usage. The options are:

  • Medium: Will the footage be shown on ‘standard’ TV, cable, satellite, on a DVD, on the internet, etc?
  • Territory: Will the footage be shown in one European country, North America, worldwide, etc?
  • Period: Do you want to be able to show the footage for 3 years, 10 years, in perpetuity?

Here’s an example of something interesting to filmmakers:
