Should you shoot in 400 Mbps in the Panasonic GH5. Watch this comprehensive review to find out.

Here’s my full review of the new firmware update (v2.1):

Did I hear you say that the picture I get with the 10 bit 4:2:@ 400mbps All I is as good as what I would get if I send the picture to my Atomos device? What about the codec differences between the in camera and the atomos? Does that not make a difference?

No, it does not. My earlier video on 8-bit and 10-bit compares them. Nothing has changed.

Hey Sareesh,
I have a quick question about the comment about not needing an external recording with the V90 cards. I’m assuming that does not extend to the 60fps Cinema 4k size or does that now include that frame rate? I know in the past using an external recorder was the only way to shoot at that frame rate and mps. Please clarify.
Thanks

p.s. I have your GH5 guide and it has been a big help thus far.

You can shoot 60p internally, but not in 400 Mbps. This is a restriction from Panasonic, and not a limitation of the card. Right now you can only shoot in 23.976p, 24p and 25p at 400 Mbps.

Okay, that’s what I was thinking but wanted to make sure. So for those purposes you still need an external recording solution.
