A Count of Ten (Gin Ke Dus) is a thriller like you’ve never seen before – a fusion of Italian Giallo and Bollywood melodrama, blending old-school style, pulse-pounding music and an immersive soundscape into a unique cinematic experience.
The Story
On a summer morning in 1991 at a remote Indian farmhouse, a silent killer strikes, leaving two dead.
“Scholar” is spared, but has to dispose of the bodies. To make matters worse, his estranged wife, Attika, arrives, drunk. She’s followed by three city friends, armed with a hidden agenda connected to Attika’s missing twin, Shyali. They’re all brought by the same rickshaw Driver – who’s too inquisitive for his own good.
Hottie nearly dies uncovering a dark secret. Scholar escapes, but the bodies pile up. Then, Shyali arrives, but her family is nowhere to be found. Chasing Scholar, the rest arrive at a desolate town. Night falls.
One by one, everyone dies, leaving only one to face the killer. As the truth is revealed, the body count is called into question:
If all ten die, how can one still be alive?

Director’s Statement
A Count Of Ten (Gin Ke Dus) is an homage to Giallo films like Deep Red – heavy on style and music, and slasher films like Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – two films with surprisingly little gore!
I also referenced films like Kireedam and Kilukkam for the look.
The music is heavy on synth and rhythm. A powerful mix, in a highly unusual 10/8 time signature, too!
A Count Of Ten is a slasher film with multiple layers of complexity. There’s the social clash – the townies are an entitled bunch and the villagers are smug and complacent.
Then there’s the confusion of twisted identities – in true Shakespearean style!
If there’s on thing I can promise you – you haven’t seen anything like this before!

The story of the theatrical release
Every aspect of A Count Of Ten (Gin Ke Dus) was made for the big screen. The 70s-inspired look. The immersive sound design. The rhythm, the color, the silence. All of it was meant to be felt in a dark theater, with nothing else in the world but the film in front of you.
On March 15th, 2024, that dream came true. The film opened in theaters across India. It played for one week but wasn’t a box office success.
But for me, it was everything.
Making this film was the most intense creative journey of my life. I saw it unfold in my head, then on set, then in the edit, the grade, the sound mix, and the endless QC passes to get it ready for release. I’ve seen it a thousand times – so if you’re watching it for the first time, you’re lucky. I wish I could trade places with you.
The magic of theatrical projection is irreplaceable. But what you’ll see now is the purest version of the film – exactly as I intended.
I hope you give A Count Of Ten a chance. And I hope it stays with you.
I need your support. If you’ve found my content valuable over the years, I have a small favor to ask: Please add A Count Of Ten to your playlist, give it a watch, and leave a short review. It helps more than you know – and it’s the best way to help others discover the film.
Enjoy the film!
