Note: Overall a pleasing image, and a good starting point. But we can do better.

Note: Hate the skin tones and crushed blacks.

Note: Many like this style, but I find the skin tones unnatural, not very flattering.

My favorite! Compare this to Natural. Portrait has more shadow detail.

Possibly my least favorite.

Note: See what it does to skin tones? I’m not a fan of that yellow cast.

Note: Not a fan. Some people like this, I hate it whenever I’ve tried it.

Note: Very poor skin tones, I can’t see why some people use it. And it has less dynamic range than Cinelike D.

Note: Clearly the most dynamic range. See how the highlights are reigned in a bit.

For firmware v2.1 users: Please do not use HLG unless your work falls into either:

  • Shooting specifically for HLG broadcast as commissioned, or
  • Shooting a home video specifically for Panasonic TVs to watch HLG HDR
