Summary

To correctly expose Cinelike D, all you have to do is:

  • Custom white balance.
  • Keep everything important above 20 IRE.
  • Expose normally. I.e., middle grey at about 50 IRE
  • Use the waveform for consistency.
  • You will need to grade it somewhat because it is a slightly flat profile. But it should be simple, lowering the shadows or playing with contrast, nothing fancy.
