The guide to grading V-Log by India’s best colorist can be found in this lesson. Enjoy!

Summary

To correctly expose V-Log, all you have to do is:

  • Update to firmware v2.1 and use 400 Mbps ALL-I for the best grading experience.
  • Custom white balance.
  • Keep everything important above 30 IRE, and generally everything above 20 IRE.
  • Make sure to keep skin tones between 40-70 IRE
  • Use the waveform for consistency. Or use the Field Monitor app (you’ll find the link in the Apps lesson in Module Z)
  • Tip #1: Use reflectors or lights to balance exposure. There’s no free lunch here.
  • Tip #2: If you can’t color grade, don’t shoot V-Log.

That’s it! If you have any questions let me know.
